Although she never went home with an "American Idol" title, Kellie Pickler was one of the best contestants from the show. Kellie Pickler was born the 28th of June, 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler in Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. As she got pregnant the mother of her child was only aged 16. It was a harsh childhood for Pickler as her father battled with addiction to drinking and drug addiction while her mother left her in the early age of two. Morton returned to her care for several years. However, Pickler admitted that it was not going well. "I was cooking with my mom when I told her that I prefer not to die instead of staying in this place.' She took a knife out, set it on the counter, and then said"Here's how to do it after that.' The fourth grade was when she learned this. It's a shame I didn't act on it. However, it left lasting scars on my heart. The court eventually handed Pickler to her parents when she was 12 and Morton did not show up for the case. Pickler is adamant about her grandparents as one of her main influences in life throughout her whole life was raised by the grandparents. Grandmother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January of 2002, and she was continued with her father. Pickler graduated with a high school diploma from North Stanly in New London, North Carolina.
