Niykee who's had a whirlwind few years including being chosen by Snoop to sing with him on the YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee has a regular songwriting routine despite this. As a producer magnet, Niykee constantly sifts through the many beats that are delivered to her. She has found that the majority beats spark fresh music ideas. "I'll be able to discern within the first 5 seconds if it's a good beat. Once I have an idea in my head and I begin to write immediately." When I am playing my guitar outside on my porch I begin writing, and words flow. Most times, it's accomplished in about 30 minutes. Niykee says that as she grows as a lyricist her painful memories from her childhood serve as an inspiration. Even when I'm not writing in a literal way about what has occurred to me, the hurt of growing up and loss of my sister being incorporated into my songs, she states. The grief of losing my sister and my childhood shapes the songs that I compose. It is important for me to find a deeper purpose to what I perform.
